Hi! My name is Abby, and I work with Rochester Pet and Purina as a Lifestyle Product Specialist! I am originally from Rochester and grew up showing horses around the area. I was active in 4H and SEMSCA (Southeastern Minnesota Saddle Club Association) and still attend some of the shows on the local circuit each year. My focus with my horses now is barrel racing, and I travel around SE Minnesota, NW Wisconsin, and NE Iowa to barrel races. Along with the 6 Quarter Horses my husband and I own together, we have chickens, a Corgi, barn cats, and house cats. They keep us plenty busy and entertained! I attended college at University of Wisconsin River Falls, with a major in Equine Science. I did an internship with Purina the summer after I graduated and was hired on full time a few months later.

My favorite part of my job is meeting fellow horse owners and helping them get the most out of their feed program. Feeding your horses should be simple, and if it isn’t, I can help! Farm consults are free to you, and they will help us decide what is the best option for your horse moving forward. If we decide to change things up, Purina offers feeding trials with buy one bag, get one free deals.  Purina puts a lot of research into their products, and we love to show off how effective they are! By working with me, you’ll have access to all of Purina’s research and knowledge. If you have a tricky question that I don’t quite know the answer to, our research team and PhD staff are only a phone call away, and I can get you an answer.

How I can help simplify your feeding program:

  • Call or email for a simple farm consultation, where we will evaluate the horse, their weight, body condition, and talk about their current feed program
  • Once we determine what is (and isn’t) working for your horse or you, the owner, we develop a new feeding program.
  • Start your horse on a feeding trial with a perk of buy one bag, get one free.
  • At the 30-day point, I would like to stop back out to make sure we’re on track, and that you see the changes you would like to see. We can still make any feeding adjustments at this point!
  • Upon the successful completion of the trial, you provide feedback and decide if you’d like to continue with Purina horse feeds and supplements!

I have helped many horses and owners reach their personal goals, whether it be in the show ring, on the trail, or in the pasture at home. If you’re part of a 4H club, saddle club, or any other equine group and are looking for a speaker at an event, I can help you out there too! Purina is all about sharing the knowledge that we gain through our research, so we enjoy giving nutrition talks to groups of all ages.

Although most of my work is in horses, if you have sheep, goats, chickens, rabbits, dogs, or cats, I can help with their feed programs too! We offer feeding trials for small ruminants, utilizing all of Purina’s knowledge to find the best food or supplements for your sheep and goats. If you have a backyard flock, I would love to chat with you about how Purina can help you get the most out of your birds. Purina has several lines of chicken feed, ranging from layers, starter growers, meat birds, and duck feed. And if you have pets or working dogs, I would love to talk with you more about Exclusive pet foods.
